Le Grand Café
What is it?
Le Grand Café wishes to make all the resources it produces available to everyone, with the aim of democratising, educating and sharing knowledge. Visitor guides, educational packs, press kits and videos are all freely accessible. The art centre’s archives and documentation are available by appointment, on request, for specific projects. Since 2021, a leaflet in easy to read and understand has been done for each exhibition in the museum. Thanks to this leaflet, it may be easier for different publics to understand the exhibition, what is it about, how is it done, by whom.
Why is it important? / How can it help the professionals of the cultural sector?
This initiative is important, because not only it is very easily applicable to other cultural establishments, but it also demarginalises people with DYS- troubles or people with intellectual disability, giving them the possibility to access the culture and its discourse in a way that is adapted to their needs. Leaflets in FALC (French version of easy to read and understand) present the information in an accessible and simplified version, which is equally valuable as the official version. What is also important and should be noted by other cultural institutions, is that the leaflet is easily accessible on demand at the museum reception.

Results / impact
This initiative results in making the public of the exhibitions and, more generally speaking, of the museum, more diversified. People with neurodevelopmental disorders, but also non-French speakers, children and others can access the content of the exhibition. This is a good example of making culture more accessible for everyone.
