Europeana Pro
What is it?
Europeana imagines a cultural heritage sector powered by digital and a Europe powered by culture, giving it a resilient, growing economy, increased employment, improved well-being and a sense of European identity. Europeana brings together cultural heritage professionals from all domains and from all of Europe through the Europeana Network Association, the Europeana Aggregators’ Forum, diverse projects and partnerships and a programme of physical and digital events. Notably, Europeana is an online free library that gives all its users access to the cultural European heritage.
Why is it important? / How can it help the professionals of the cultural sector?
Europeana is at the heart of the common European data space for cultural heritage, a flagship initiative of the European Union to support the digital transformation of the cultural heritage sector. It can be a big help for culture professionals mainly because it gives free access to cultural European heritage online. Europeana is at the heart of the European Commission’s common European data space for cultural heritage, funded under the Digital Europe programme as part of Europe’s Digital Decade. The Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) is an EU funding programme focused on bringing digital technology to businesses, citizens and public administrations. This is important in the contects of the REACT project that tries to find and list initiatives that are somehow important for the digital transformation of the cultural establishments, as well as the improvement of their accessibility.
