EDUTOOL (National Museum in Krakow)
What is it?
EDUTOOL document was created as part of the activities of the “Spektrum” project. The National Museum in Krakow is the leader of this project under the programme ‘Erasmus+ Youth. Action 2 – Strategic Partnerships’ programme. It provides innovative educational methods in shaping a more accessible museum for people on the autism spectrum. The kit focuses on the selection and use of educational methodologies and techniques for people with Autism Spectrum Disability (creative work method, digital storytelling and learning tools, learning by exploring objects, the role of music in museums and exhibitions).
Why is it important? / How can it help the professionals of the cultural sector?
The guide presents 5 unconventional teaching methods to make museums more welcoming to people on the autism spectrum:
- 1st method – Creative artwork
- 2nd method – Digital Storytelling
- 3rd method – Object-based learning
- 4th method – Digital learning
- 5th method – Music in museums and exhibitions
Additionally, seven case studies from the participating countries are included in the guide. (Poland, Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy and Belgium). A practical overview through the different European countries gives a broad perspective and the opportunity to draw the best lessons for cultural professionals to implement in their work.
