AccessAble Your accessibility guide (fka DisabledGo)

What is it?

It is an online collection of accessibility-related information, available from the site of the British Museum. It allows people to search for restaurants, universities, hotels, hospitals according to the name of the city or the post code. It also gives visitors with various disabilities to find their way through the museum, providing clear and well-structured information about accessibility features throughout the visit itinerary.

Why is it important? / How can it help the professionals of the cultural sector?

The importance of the tool lies in the fact that people with various medical conditions can find their way inside the museum and outside by means of a detailed bunch of thematic guides: Food and drink, Pizzeria, The British Museum main guide, The Great Court, Accessible Toilets, etc.

For museum and cultural organizations, the importance lies in the fact that this section of the British Museum website can serve as an inspirational place for staff in search of reliable sources for new ideas to be adapted to the specific local conditions.
