Dialog im Dunkeln
What is it?
The exhibition ”Dialogue im Dunkeln” provides sighted persons the possibility to experience for one hour the life of a blind person. The visit takes place in total darkness, in small groups, guided by a blind guide, who knows all the details of the environment and who talks permanently to the group advising what challenges come to the next step. The room is totally dark, there is not even a tiny beam of light anywhere.
Why is it important? / How can it help the professionals of the cultural sector?
It is very important that museum professionals become aware of all the difficulties their target groups may face. Spending just one hour experiencing life as a blind person can profoundly and permanently change one’s perspective. When it comes to explaining culture, one must find inspiration in the details of the real world and daily life that the target audience is accustomed to. Museum staff need to be aware of the real difficulties the visitors could be challenging so to be able to manifest the due reaction.

Testimonials
”It is an experience never to forget, one cannot understand how important a sense is until, even for one hour, it is lost. It can be panicking, it is challenging for sure, and it is transforming the participant for the rest of his/ her life!”
Coralia Costaș, participant in the exhibition tour in March 2022
