Interactive exercise: designing an interactive and immersive experience plan

The aim of this activity is for you to practice developing a plan of an interactive and immersive experience in a given cultural institution (museums or other) using digital mediation tools. The below steps will help structure the approach, outline ideas and consider the practical actions to bring them to life.  

Step 1: Define the objectives 

What does this immersive experience aim to achieve? Consider whether the goal is to educate, entertain, increase accessibility and inclusion.

Step 3: Select the digital tools

Step 4: Develop a story or theme 

Describe the narrative or theme of the experience you are planning to develop. Ensure it aligns with the institution’s mission, exhibitions the technical characteristics of your digital tool. 

Consider how the story will engage visitors and provide value in terms of the objectives that were set at the beginning.  
Think about replacements. If the chosen object(s) is/are removed from the display (conservation, photo, long loan, etc.), which object will replace it/them? Who will implement the change in the software?
